How can we assure the timely delivery of parcels in the face of strong fluctuations and varying capacity utilization?
The number of parcels and the number of end recipients increases steadily, while at the same time being subject to strong fluctuations. Reliable capacity planning and prompt delivery are getting harder and harder. The majority of deliveries are currently made by DPD's so-called system partners (independent transport companies). In addition, there are also just under 20 locations where the company's own delivery staff are deployed via its subsidiary DPD Service GmbH.
Given the increase in B2C parcel volume, increasing demand for delivery staff and optimal utilization of capacities, how can we assure the timely delivery of parcels in the face of strong fluctuations and varying capacity utilization? Find a way to assure reliable and transparent capacity planning.
A comprehensive approach with solutions to the above problem. Show all aspects of your idea in a PowerPoint presentation with approximately 10 slides.
DPD Germany is part of the international DPD Group, Europe's largest parcel service network. DPD has 79 depots and 7,000 pickup parcel stores throughout Germany. 9,500 employees and 11,000 delivery staff are on duty for customers every day. Every year, the number 2 in the German parcel market transports around 375 million parcels - and does so in a completely climate-neutral manner, at no additional cost to customers. With numerous initiatives for sustainable parcel delivery, DPD is demonstrating how parcel shipping can be made environmentally friendly and locally emission-free, particularly in the inner cities.
With innovative technologies and a consistent focus on the needs and circumstances of all customers and recipients, DPD offers a simple, convenient and flexible service in B2B and B2C parcel shipping. One example of this is the Predict service, which is unique in the industry and features map-based live tracking, a wide range of options for rerouting a parcel and a delivery forecast that is accurate to within an hour. DPD's digital innovations have already received numerous awards, such as the Digital Transformation Award, the eco Internet Award, the German Prize for Online Communication and the UX Design Award.
DPD Group ships to 230 countries and territories worldwide and has a uniform network of 47,000 pickup parcel stores around the world with harmonized services, including cross-border shipping. Across Europe, 77,000 delivery experts ensure that 5.3 million parcels are delivered for customers every day. DPD's parent company is GeoPost, a wholly owned subsidiary of the French Groupe La Poste. GeoPost reported consolidated annual revenue of €7.8 billion in 2019.
